Post 5 The Walking Dead

1) This show definitely shows gender and racial diversity through the characters that come and go. From white to black to asian characters, they have it all. They even have a good amount of female to male ratio. I believe the show chose to show diversity not only in race but also gender to be able to appeal to a wider audience. The more people the show can appeal the more views they can get which in turn raises the ratings and more profit. This type of diversity is important to media because in most cases, you tend to see more Caucasian males in the media. More diversity in media will create more visibility for all other races, especially minorities,  and women because women tend to be more invisible in media.

2) I don't see much gender and/or racial stereotyping in this show because they always let different characters take the main role every now and then. Whether its the main guy leader taking the role or a back story of the young girl, they try to let everyone get camera time. Its great to see the director take this point to portray the story because it shows you the perspective of each character from different views and keeps the show diverse and fresh.

Post 4 Racist stereotyping

I believe it is right to racially stereotype for advertising purposes because the whole point of advertising is to captivate the audience and pass information onto them. In terms of advertising there are many different tools advertisers can take advantage of and one of the best ones is to follow social media. There are many examples of racism on television throughout the years.
Example:

However with that said, there are lines that no one should cross because one can use racial stereotyping for a comedic piece, but there are certain limits to how far you should take it. No matter how funny the ad maybe, if it angers the majority of your audience, it will be best to avoid it.
EX:

(Banned commerical)

Advertises do have ethical responsibilities but everything should not be black and white. It all really comes down to how they execute the racial stereotyping. If done right, everyone will enjoy a good laugh.

Post 3 Semiotics

In this magazine ad we see an ad for palm, a phone brand. The ad focuses on the comparison between two ways of organizing your daily life, through written notes scrambled all over your hand or within a small device. It's symbolizing that the palm phone can help you keep things organized in a easy manner.

Tv Ad:

In this advertisement we see a group of ninjas walking on rooftops. One of the ninja's played by the famous actor who played Mr.Bean act sloppy. Then he is presented with a snickers bar and changes into an asian ninja which i understood to be his true form. This commercial uses comedy to appeal the audience and to entice them to eat their product to help them feel like themselves.

Outdoor ad:
Mcdonalds billboard

This bill board shows a picture of a mcchicken with a red background with the words " Please do not eat the billboard". The image it shows of the mcchicken does look  very appealing and appeals to many customers. On the button it states, "all white meat chicken" implying no substitutes. This ad uses the appeal of the image to attract customers to visit the shops.

Super bowl 2015 commericals. Post 2

One of my favorite commercials was the one made by NoMore.org

It is a commercial thats basically about raising awareness about sexual and domestic abuse. It is based a true story about a women who called 911 while the predator was in the same room pretending to order pizza. It strongly creates an emotional feeling to the viewers and gives a perspective of what people go through to have to get help. Revealing this commercial during the superbowl was a great idea because millions of people watch the super bowl every year. As a medium it is one of the most highly watched live streams on tv and the best time of the year to get information out.
