Post 5 The Walking Dead

1) This show definitely shows gender and racial diversity through the characters that come and go. From white to black to asian characters, they have it all. They even have a good amount of female to male ratio. I believe the show chose to show diversity not only in race but also gender to be able to appeal to a wider audience. The more people the show can appeal the more views they can get which in turn raises the ratings and more profit. This type of diversity is important to media because in most cases, you tend to see more Caucasian males in the media. More diversity in media will create more visibility for all other races, especially minorities,  and women because women tend to be more invisible in media.

2) I don't see much gender and/or racial stereotyping in this show because they always let different characters take the main role every now and then. Whether its the main guy leader taking the role or a back story of the young girl, they try to let everyone get camera time. Its great to see the director take this point to portray the story because it shows you the perspective of each character from different views and keeps the show diverse and fresh.
