Post 11 Brand personalities

Before we discussed in class regarding the types of stigmas that are attached to certain brands, i never realized how weird it would be for the coke-cola brand to release a fruity healthy drink when they are known for their coke. Then it made me think about every brand that i use constantly such as Apple, Nike, Vans, Coca-cola, Simply, etc. If Apple started releasing food related products would i buy it from them? Most likely not because i know they are known for electronics and technology. Same goes with Nike: if all of a sudden they wanted to start selling drinks i do not think i would be interested in it because of the better products that are out there.

These personalities that become attached to a brand takes time for it to happen. Such as Coke cola is known for sugary carbonated beverages and how nike is known for active fitness clothing. Each brand usually specializes a certain area that they become known for. There are cases where brands try to rebrand themselves but it sometimes backfires because the customers become confused and get angry at the company.

This site gives a few good examples of companies trying to rebrand themselves and not working out.
