One of the biggest launches for windows was their new OS windows 8. For Pc consumers, this was a huge step towards a more simplistic and better viewing OS. It was hugely exciting for pc users and everyone was expecting it to be huge, but no one was ready for what it actually was. When the Os was finally released the majority of the windows users could say it was horrible. Everything was changed, no one understood how to use the controls. Even just finding the shut down button was hard enough that many coders made loopholes for easier access to the keys.
Other key notes that many were not a fan of was the app system. Since many consumers did not have touch screens, the app home screen was essentially harder to use and many apps that came pre-installed had no options and you were stuck with whatever the defaults were.
Thankfully Microsoft saw their mistake and immediately sent out a Windows 8.1 update which many would call it 8.2 which improved many disliked options and increased popularity. However there were still many that disliked the new OS and were already looking forward to next years.
In the time it took windows 8 to sell 200 million license(15-plus months) windows 7 sold 240million in the first 12 months.
